Fashion show to help Vanderbilt children's hospital (The Tennessean)

Two Vanderbilt University student organizations have teamed to host "Miracle on 24th Ave.," a holiday-themed fashion show benefiting Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sarratt Cinema in the Sarratt Student Center.

Vanderbilt student-run nonprofit organizations Fashion for a Cause and Dance Marathon are sponsoring the show.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Several local vendors will sell accessories at the event. All proceeds from the fashion show and accessories sale will go to the Craniofacial Treatment Center at Vanderbilt and the Vanderbilt Brain Tumor Center.

Models show off latest looks at mall's Holiday Fashion Show (The Huntington Herald-Dispatch)

BARBOURSVILLE -- Models showed off the latest holiday clothing on the runway at the Huntington Mall in Barboursville during the mall's Holiday Fashion Show on Saturday.

The runway show, setup at the Macy's Dome, gave several stores in the mall the opportunity to show off their newest trends. Goody bags were given to the first 100 people who attended the show.

The Holiday Fashion Show is only one of a number of events planned at the mall during the holiday season.

The Christmas Cookie Contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Elder-Beerman Dome. Judges are looking for the best Christmas cookie for the holiday season.

The mall is also having a session of pet photos with Santa Claus from 9 a.m. to noon, Dec. 13 at the mall gazebo. Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier at all times. Permission to be on mall with a pet is restricted to the pet photos taken in the mall gazebo.

Here are several upcoming events worth noting:

• Fashion show: The Social Nightclub, 1000 K St. in Sacramento, is the venue for a fashion show Thursday featuring 11 local designers' winter collections. The show is titled "The Collection: A Fashion Affair." Designers include Dee Aguilar, Brownskin Designs, Chamriste, Exquisitely Eclectic Designs, Faedrah Clothing, Jaclyen Chideme, Monte Christo, Melissa Kay, Mikobella Designs, Tiana Vega and 222clothing.

Paul Mitchell, Luxe Salon & Spa, J Spot Hair Boutique, House of Larue, Salon Bravissimo, Transformations Makeup Institute and Image Provacateur will handle hair and makeup. DJ Knuckles will provide the music.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at The Beat, 1700 J St. Doors open at 9:30 p.m., Thursday and the fashion show starts at 10. This is a 21-and-over event.

• Trunk show: Brown House will host an open house from noon to 5 p.m today at the store, 2567 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Sacramento. Evening bag designer Julie Feldman will be on hand to show her one-of-a-kind bags. And jewelry specialist Dick Bernheimer will preview his necklaces. The boutique will serve appetizers and beverages.
