Two aspiring models were allegedly abducted and assaulted by four youth who had threatened them against participating in a college fashion show.

One of the victims, Sudarshan Paryar (22), has registered a first information report (FIR) against four youth. The victims and the accused are students of SIWS College, Wadala. College authorities denied knowledge of the incident.

Paryar, a first-year Commerce student, and his friend Masani Yadav (22), were forced into a car and taken to Antop Hill where they were allegedly beaten with rods and cricket stumps.

"We are searching for the assailants," said Senior Police Inspector Sunil Deshmukh. "The accused had threatened the duo against taking part in the fashion show." Deshmukh said there was no reason for the accused to be against the victims' participation.

Paryar's FIR said he and Yadav had ignored threats from the accused — Ganesh (25), Karthik (27), Simond (26) and Dinesh (27) — and participated in the fashion show on January 20. "The accused accosted us after the show and threatened us," the FIR said.

On January 26, when Paryar and Yadav were waiting for a cab in Sion, the accused arrived in a Scorpio and pushed the duo into the vehicle. They drove the victims to the MHADA transit camp at Antop Hill and assaulted them. The FIR said after the assault, the victims took a taxi to Sion hospital, where they were treated.

The police have filed a case of abduction and wrongful confinement.

There have been no arrests.

Eagle Castle Winery: ‘Friday Night Fashion Show’ hits runway (Paso Robles Press)

Posted: 29 Jan 2010 11:41 AM PST

More than 100 people packed into Eagle Castle Winery for a night of local wine and fashion last Friday, Jan. 22.

Attendees were treated to dinner, wine tasting and champagne during the high voltage fashion spectacle dubbed the "Friday Night Fashion Show."

Stylists from Salon Roux of Paso Robles created a bevy of hair and makeup looks for the event ranging from casual and low-key to daring and dramatic. Local models showcased fashions provided by North County clothing stores, including iCandy, Kahunas Surf and Sport, Kelly's Casuals, Your Intentions, Upscale Resale and Farm Supply Company. Items from the various stores were also on sale at the event.

Models successfully showcased the local businesses by strutting the catwalk in ensembles paired with flats, boots and heels. Women's evening wear and men's daywear also garnered the attention of photographers who flashed numerous cameras paparazzi-style. Dance music blared as the crowd cheered for their favorite fashions.

"It was intimidating to go out there, but once I did it was a blast," said one Friday Night Fashion Show model that became involved through a friend and local clothing buyer.

Patti Rodriguez, a past resident of Los Angeles and two-year Paso Robles transplant, said the idea of wine and fashion coming together piqued her interest.
