Fashion show to cut its cloth (Edinburgh Evening News) Posted: 22 Dec 2009 02:16 AM PST The show, run by Edinburgh University students, has raised more than £250,000 in the past eight years. This year's show is set to benefit Poppy Scotland, Marie Curie and Scottish Association for Mental Health. The students have had to cut their budget from £42,000 to £25,000, reducing costs such as venue hire, lighting and food. Chairwoman Emma Sturdee, a third year student, said: "We are very confident that a fabulous event can still be put on, despite this setback with funding." Posted: 22 Dec 2009 09:45 AM PST Pop singer Olivia Newton-John was the special guest at the Schepens Eye Research Institute's 2009 "Vision of Beauty" luncheon. The event took place Dec. 2 at the Mar-a-Lago Club. The afternoon included reception, silent auction, lunch, a Badgley Mischka fashion show by Neiman Marcus and a raffle for a Neiman Marcus shopping spree. Kenneth Fischer, president and COO of Schepens, presented an update on the ongoing research at the institute. Newton-John, accompanied b husband John Easterling, spoke on the importance of research and women's health initiatives globally. Kathryn Vecellio, Judy Grubman and Herme deWyman Miro were honorary chairwomen of the event. Colleen Bain, Linda Salandra-Dweck, Sandra Krakoff, Kay Lyons, Anne Moran, Monika Preston, Nancy Raquet, Laurie Silvers and Andrea Stark were chairwomen for the luncheon.
