Victoria's Secret fashion show: Where angels dare to bare (USA Today)

Just five weeks after giving birth to her fourth child, the supermodel surprised the audience, walking the runway at the Victoria's Secret lingerie fashion show Thursday night at the 69th Regiment Armory.

Granted, she traded the signature bra-and-panties look for an over-the-top dress, but who's being picky?

Backstage before the show, Klum said she opted for hosting instead of modeling because she "wasn't quite ready yet. This kind of takes a lot of planning. When you have a baby, you can't really know if in five weeks' time you're like everyone else over here," she said, motioning to the other models.

As for her newest addition, daughter Lou, "She's great. We're so excited that we had a little girl. Especially (older daughter) Leni is super-excited," says Klum. "(Lou's) in our room at night. Leni is waiting for her to go into her room. Her brothers share a room and she doesn't have anyone in her room."

Also prepping pre-show was Sports Illustrated knockout Marisa Miller, who said she has her sights set on one thing post-show: a cupcake. "That's all I want. Bring me a cupcake as I'm running off the runway. Just throw it to me," she said.

Lean Brazilian bombshell Alessandra Ambrosio lounged on a sofa before the show. It's almost impossible to fathom that she has a daughter, Anja, 1. Her secret? She does Pilates and yoga to stay in shape.

And she loves her day job, she says. "I have three houses and they are packed with lingerie. I don't even try to count," says Ambrosio.

During the show, the Black Eyed Peas performed as models paraded down a jet-black, diamond-dusted V-shaped runway.

The Peas' Boom Boom Pow kicked off the show as Ambrosio walked first in neon wings, with Miranda Kerr following in oversized space-like armored wings.

Each act of the show ranged from futuristic funky to pop playful. Giant feathers plumed off armored wings in the dark second act while models marched to Leona Lewis' tunes.

For the Victoria's Secret Pink line, the models went whimsical wearing super sparkly bras, cutoffs emblazoned with hearts, and long trains made of balloons. They paraded around a giant Jeff Koontz-like blow-up puppy.

Taking it all in from the front row: Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Michelle Trachtenberg, Christian Siriano, Keri Hilson and the members of Kings of Leon.

The Victoria's Secret fashion show airs Dec. 1 on CBS (10 p.m. ET/PT).

New York – The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show came back to New York City in its 14th year and took audience members on a wild journey through various themes from futuristic to classical romantic on Thursday, Nov. 19.

With black lights and lasers encompassing the whole of the Lexington Avenue Armory venue, The Black Eyed Peas took the stage just in time to get the crowd riled up as Angel Alessandra Ambrosio opened the show. The Star Trooper segment featured neon underwear sets that appeared to glow in the dark under the lights, and ultramodern arm and body pieces resembling shooting stars, spacecraft pieces and astronaut gear.

Backstage before the show, Victoria's Secret first-time models and veteran Angels, the company's more visible models and spokeswomen, shared tips, excitement and some of their favorite looks. "I've been looking forward to working with VS for so long, it's my very first show. I'm excited to be my own personality, get out there and do whatever I want to do, smile and have fun," said model Chanel Iman.

This year, Victoria's Secret booked its first Asian model to walk the show - Liu Wen from Beijing, who explained her reaction to her casting news as: "I was very surprised and excited. I'm the first Chinese model so I was so surprised."

Pink Planet was the theme of the intimate-wear company's more casual Pink line and featured an enormous pink, polka-dot dog balloon ascending from the floor of the stage. This more playful line was psychedelic in color, including Angel wings made out of balloons, with flowers, stars and hearts adding to the fun.

Angel model and hostess of the event Heidi Klum began the Enchanted Forest segment wearing a corset and half gown with draping foliage under the green leafy lights, just five weeks after giving birth to her fourth child. Angel Miranda Kerr donned vine clock wings which she mentally prepped for before the show. "This year my wings are 15 pounds, can you imagine," said Kerr. "They're super heavy. I'm not scared but my back is really going to hurt tonight. I'll need a good massage tomorrow."

Though wings get lighter or heavier from year to year, there is something special about them, a rite of passage. "My first time doing the show was four years ago. My first time as an Angel was last year," explained Doutzen Kroes. "The wings are great, still nerve racking."

"The themes are great, they're fun, a little out there, really high fashion," said model Sessilee Lopez about the show and the models. "I read on some blog the line up this year is ridiculous. It's the Super Bowl of supermodels." And though she didn't divulge any looks before the show, Lopez did mention she's "wearing diamonds and its worth over 150 grand."

Attendees and fans of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which CBS is set to air Dec. 1, included Jay-Z, Michelle Trachtenberg, Harvey Weinstein and Zac Posen.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Takes Over The Armory (Gothamist)

Ladies in over-the-top lingerie get-ups stomped down the runway at the Lexington Avenue Armory for Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. According to Newsday, "Some 2,000 showgoers including Jay-Z, Michelle Trachtenberg and Virgin Atlantic's Richard Branson (a 'fashion show virgin,' he said) were treated to the extravaganza of bra-and-panty clad Victoria's Secret angels - much more modest than in years past - strutting down a runway with adjacent mosh-pits, wearing massive wings, lunar sculptures, branches and glitzy accessories that conjured a 'magical journey' from space voyage, old world train travel, an enchanted forest and a happy hippie segment that included a giant inflatable pink polka-dot puppy that rose from the floor."

Heidi Klum, who gave birth to her fourth child last month, was among the models. She was originally only going to host, telling People, "You definitely have less pressure when you don't shake your booty in front of millions around the world," but ending up wearing a corset and skirt for her runway walk, "I embrace that I have more curves right now. I'm definitely one of the heaviest of the bunch of the 30 girls in the show."

Klum, 36, who is married to singer Seal, gave birth to a baby girl last month and made a shock return to the fashion world in New York.

She emerged from the huge, castle like set to applause on Thursday night at the Lexington Avenue Armory.

The lingerie retailer always puts on an elaborate production, which this time featured a choir, acrobatic dancers, The Black Eyed Peas and saw supermodel Marissa Miller wear a $3 million, diamond-encrusted bra.

Victoria's Secret inducted five more models into its 'Angel' ranks to represent the brand, Emanuela de Paula, Chanel Iman, Lindsay Ellingson, Candice Swanepoel and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Also present at the star studded fashion show were Sir Richard Branson, actor Olivier Martinez and hip hop stars Jay-Z and Dr Dre.
