Organisers of the International Wedding Exhibition and Fashion Show (IWED 2010) have announced a partnership with the World Fashion Channel, which should provide exhibitors with a television and mobile Internet audience of 1bn viewers.
The exhibition, in its third edition, takes place at the Doha Exhibition Centre from May 4-7.
The World Fashion Channel will begin promoting IWED 2010 later this month, and will then showcase "the hottest wedding collections, famous designers and the latest fashion news direct from the 10,000sq m IWED 2010 exhibition".
World Fashion Channel president Igor Udalov said: "Keeping in mind the growing international popularity of wedding fashion and the consequent need to ensure IWED 2010 exhibitors reach the biggest possible audience, our decision to partner with IWED brings great benefits for both partners."
A spokesman said that World Fashion Channel fans around the world will be the first to see IWED 2010 daily fashion, hair and beauty shows, sponsored by Bassam Fattouh and Yehya & Zaccharia.
Of particular interest to World Fashion Channel cameras will be the spectacular IWED fashion shows, staged twice daily on the 1,000sq m IWED catwalk, sponsored by Qatar Vision and Elegant Events, he added.
Qatar Expo chief executive Karim Zarka said: "Always keen to introduce innovative new concepts for the benefit of exhibitors, sponsors and visitors, we hope our partnership with World Fashion Channel with further increase demand for IWED 2010 in the international and local markets."

HANCOCK — A fashion show in Hancock Sunday not only raised money for the Hancock Lioness Club but also helped spread the word about shopping opportunities in town.

Models in the show at Hancock United Methodist Church wore outfits from Phillips Fashions at 46 W. Main Street in town and several people at the show said they did not know such clothing could be found in Hancock.

Carolyn Garlitz of Frostburg, Md., was thankful that she no longer needs to drive to Hagerstown to find women's fashions.

"I though it was fantastic," Garlitz said of the show, which featured 15 models.

Nicole Eister of Greencastle, Pa., said she came to the show after hearing about it from her future mother-in-law.

"I never heard of this store until now. It's something I would definitely be interested in looking at," Eister said.

Show organizers came up with the idea for the event as a way to raise money for the Hancock Lioness Club, said Cindy Phillips, who runs Phillips Fashions and who recently became a member of the club. The Hancock Lioness Club supports the community in many ways, including offering vision tests for children, Phillips said.

The models — customers from Phillips' store and students at Hancock Middle/Senior High School — wore formal and casual wear. They walked down a center aisle in a room at the church at 170 West Main St., drawing applause from a crowd of about 100 people.

The event raised money through a $5-per-person admission, said Phillips, who added that 18 door prizes, all of which were donated, were given away.

"It was real nice," said Nora Hutchins of Frostburg, Md. "Beautiful dresses, beautiful girls."
