Ebell Club hosting Spring Fashion Show

The Ebell Club of Santa Paula will be hosting a Spring Fashion Show on Monday, March 1 in Wesley Hall of the First United Methodist Church, 133 N. Mill St., Santa Paula. 

Time to socialize and participate in an Opportunity Drawing will begin at 1:30 p.m., and the fashion show will start at 2 p.m.

Fashions will be from Draper's & Damon's of Camarillo. Come enjoy the styles and an afternoon tea and coffee time. Ticket donation is $15 and tickets may be purchased from any Ebell Club member, or phone 525-7788.

Palmetto Ridge to host fashion show Friday

The Palmetto Ridge High School Hip Hop Club will celebrate Black History Month with "A Night in New York," a scholarship fashion show. The show will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the school's cafeteria, 1655 Victory Lane.

This is the third annual show, which consists of five scenes: casual, business, formal, urban and show your styles. As a special addition to the show, Palmetto Ridge High School senior Marco Castillo will showcase some of his designs on the runway.

Tickets are $3 per person. All proceeds go towards college scholarships for club members that exhibit leadership and a willingness to contribute to the social change of their community.

The Hip Hop Club's purpose is to emphasize leadership as well as individuality, for students to be themselves and indulge in the joy that hip hop offers.

Naples High School will host Reading is Fundamental book distribution Friday

Naples High School is ready to begin its 11th year sponsoring the Reading is Fundamental book distribution. The first of three annual book distributions will be held from 7:10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Naples High School Media Center, 1100 Golden Eagle Circle.

The theme for this distribution is pets. Slogans and bulletin boards posted will read "Pounce on a Good Book" and "Fetch a Good Book."

About 500 students will receive books, including students from the Little Eagles pre-school program, English Language Learners and intensive reading classes.

The Little Eagles will get a jump start on the activities as the will receive their books on Thursday. Sonia Williams from the Collier County Public Library will be at the school to tell stories to the Little Eagles, as well as teach them songs and finger rhymes.

Reading is Fundamental is a public/private partnership that is dedicated to promoting literacy, excitement about reading, and the thrill of choosing and owning your own book. Naples High is one of only 28 high schools in the nation to sponsor this program, which continues to be a huge success thanks to the gracious assistance of the community.

Pine Ridge Middle School to host celebration of math

Pine Ridge Middle School is having a school-wide celebration of math Thursday in the school's multipurpose room, 1515 Pine Ridge Road. Students are challenged to solve various problems by being involved in math activities. The school will also emphasize the importance of reading in math.

Some of the activities students are undertaking include rectangular prisms calculations, metric estimation with Skittles, probability games, a math vocabulary swat game, and problem solving relay races.

Tickets are won for correct answers and positive participation. All tickets are placed in a jar for a drawing that will take place on Friday during morning announcements. Target and Wal-Mart gift cards, Steak and Shake coupons and movie tickets will be given away.

First Baptist Academy to host open house

The faculty and staff of First Baptist Academy will host an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 4, at the school, 3000 Orange Blossom Drive.

Families will have the opportunity to view curriculum for prekindergarten through 12th grade and see classes in action. The guidance counselor, athletic director and the school's administrative team will be available to answer questions and give guided tours of the facilities. Applications for admission will also be available at the open house or may be downloaded from the school's Web site, www.fbalions.org.

Those unable to attend the open house can call the school office at (239) 597-2233, ext. 300, to set up a tour or request more information.

Seacrest to host cabaret night

In support of the American Cancer Society, the Seacrest Key Club will sponsor a Cabaret Night at Noodles Italian Café. On Tuesday, March 2, the Seacrest Singers will perform a variety of solo and a cappella numbers from 6 to 8 p.m. at the restaurant, 1585 Pine Ridge Road.

All of proceeds from the event will be donated to the upcoming Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
