STERLING – Maurices is sponsoring "Rescues and Runways," a free fashion show Saturday to benefit Happy Tails Animal Shelter.

The show, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Northland Mall, will feature women's fall clothing from Maurices and Christopher & Banks.

To go along with the fashion show, there will be a silent auction and a raffle of gift baskets featuring Wahl Clipper products, pet supplies, items from Bath and Body Works, barbecue accessories, books about animals and gift cards from FYE, Hallmark, Urban Outlet, J.C. Penney, Maurices and Shoe Sensation.

People can go to Maurices now to bid on items.

Raffle tickets are $1 each, or $5 for an arm's length. A bake sale and raffle ticket sales will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Scooper Heros and Primp Your Pet will sell T-shirts, and there will be a 6-foot bulldog mascot on hand.

All proceeds will go to Happy Tails, a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter that is preparing to move to a new site in Rock Falls. The Sterling store is one of more than 700 Maurices holding fundraisers to help animal shelters.
